Beech Ridge Speedway
Scarborough, Maine
2005/2006
August 6, 2006 Beech Ridge "Summerfest"
Another great vintage good time! Wicked Good had members from all compass points, showing up for this fun filled day. There was plenty of good food, and enough track time available to make you dizzy, if you wanted to take advantage of it all. The folks from MVRCA, did a fine job of putting this event together ,at a really nice facility and race track.
There were some "checkered flag" laps, in honor of some Hall of Fame drivers. The laps featured their famous vintage race cars, that made this sport the one that we are working to keep alive. It was a very nice tribute to the "heros of our youth".

The Wicked Good caravan of "northern" members, stretched out as far as the eye could see, as they headed to Beech Ridge, to meet up with their "southern" members, for a fun filled day of friends and vintage race cars.

A morning of sunshine, a caravan of old race cars, lots of friends having breakfast, and then to have Blackie himself, right there in the middle of it all, with you. It just don't get no better folks!!!
OK, let's quit fooling around, and get to the track. There's people to see, burgers to eat, gas to burn, cars to admire, and LOTS of LAPS to be laid down. Those good people from Maine Vintage, have put a lot of work into this event. We don't want to miss any of it.
This is just a very small part, of the huge lineup of vintage race cars, that showed up for "Summerfest 2006". No doubt about it, things will be rocking here today.
Jim and "Bone Crusher" are seen here, spending some quality time, with a new found friend, on the wonderful Beech Ridge track. There does seem to be a pattern developing here though. I'm beginning to think that Jim, hasn't even told that old Chevy coupe, that there is an inside, slower lane.
New WGVRA member, Paul Shorette, got his introduction to vintage racing at "Summerfest", by doing some hot laps in Ed's yellow Chevy coupe, along with some other very nice looking, vintage race cars. He too, now has that big non-removable smile, that occurs when the vintage bug bites you. Planning for his vintage race car, has already started.
Also a WGVRA member, Samantha Kennedy, took her very first trips around a race track, with the same car which she had helped to restore, and put back into action. The vintage bug just may have given her a little nip, as well. Those big grins, just don't lie.
Erica kicks back in the drivers seat, and relaxes a bit as she awaits the next heat on the track. This 1933 Ford, is one of a couple of Clark family vintage race cars, and she races them both. With about three seasons of racing experience to her credit, this young lady can show you the way around a track, both dirt, or asphalt.
eAlan brought his good looking #62 coupe to share in the "Summerfest" fun, and got in some good track time, with fellow WGVRA member Bob Cercena. This is a really nice re-creation, of a car that has family history for Alan. He did a super job with it. Bob has one fine looking ride there, as well.
Colin and the A-1 Ford, got their laps in, on this beautiful day of vintage excitement too. This recently restored old race car, has been doing great this summer. Colin is right at home, in a old Ford coupe!
Fans of racing from "back in the day", got a treat when Travis Johns, brought Blackies famous Hudson powered coupe onto the track, and was running along with the Chevy of Stan Meserve. If this had been an all out race day, who would have won? Interesting thought.
Bob Cercena, had his vintage race car at the Beech Ridge fun filled day, and also got into spending some time, doing what we all like so much. Having a good time with good friends, and making some sweet sounding noise.
Mark's veteran 36 Ford race car, made it's first public appearance on the oval, after years of retirement. It was sure nice to see this old race car, back in action again. It looked mighty fine on the asphalt.
Justin Earl Wyman and Tom Clark, were not about to let everyone else have all the fun. They got their laps in as well. Like the club banner says, it's "just for the fun of it." and fun it is!
Rosey then moved up into position, and gave Justin a sample of "Hudson Power", for something to remember this exciting day by.
What vintage race car event would be complete, without this well known race car out there on the track, chasing another Clark family member, for the victory. In this shot, Tom was chasing Ron, or was it Erica whupping up on Ron? No, it may have been Tom, with Erica right behind him, or -----------
(UPDATE-inside sources have confirmed that this is Erica, putting the 33 Ford, thru it paces.)
Once again, THANKS to everyone that made this such a great day, for all who were lucky enough to attend. It was a spectacular event, and very much appreciated.
