Maine Motorsports Expo
Augusta, Maine
2006

January 6, 7, 8th - Maine Motorsports Expo - Augusta

The show opened Friday afternoon, with "Wicked Good" attending its first ever activity of this sort, thanks to a much appreciated invitation from Maine Vintage Race Car Assn.  The vintage race cars once again became a hit of the show !

Rosey Gerry and Ed Kennedy

Rosey Gerry brought his Ford flathead powered '33 Dodge "bomber" coupe, and Jim Sprague his sbc powered 1936 Chevy "modified" coupe.  We had been concerned whether the two cars could actually put the sbc vs. flathead rivalry to rest for the duration of the show, or if it would end in oil-shed.  However, word from the show advises that both cars behaved themselves and seemed to get along very well.  A security guard left a message this morning that we might still want to speak to them, for he noticed some rubbing of tires in the booth late last night after everyone had gone.

Blackie Hilliard came to visit, and stayed a good part of the day, which gave Rosey an opportunity to glean some Hudson speed tricks during their discussions.  I wonder how many of those new tricks will appear in Rosey's 1933 Plymouth  sedan, which also happens to enjoy Hudson power.  Anyway, Blackie seemed to enjoy himself, as did his many fans who stopped by to say hello, and obtain an autograph.

The "Wicked Good" booth turned out to be a busy place.  A number of folks who visited the booth appeared to find 50's era racing "right up their alley"; several commenting that they knew precisely where Dad's or Grandad's old race car was resting, and had become "mightily" tempted to pull it out of the woods and put it back together.  Perhaps we will discover some of those folks running beside us not too far down the road.

Mark Collins, Keith Fuller Jr, Haggie Pratt Jr., Robert Hills, Robert Hitt, and Norman Wyman
also contributed their energy to keep the booth a'rockin' !

Our greatest thanks goes to Bob Morris and MVRCA for thinking of us.

MVRCA had a really great display of original restored race cars!

Who ever thought?  Blackie's Hudson powered Terraplane lives !

Blackie found himself plenty busy meeting and greeting his many fans !
