May 12 - Wiscasset Raceway
The earlier rainout at Speedway 95 made the Wiscasset race the first of the season for the "Wicked Good" Racers. Although somewhat earlier in the season then we have been accustomed to, eleven vintage racers were ready to take to the Wiscasset pavement, while leaving several other vintage cars sobbing at home. Their turn will come soon.

Only a few of the vintage racecars had an opportunity to practice during the afternoon, and several drivers either found themselves on the Wiscasset blacktop for their first time ever; or with a brand new vintage car. Rosie Gerry of Lincolnville spent a fun day with his resurrected 1957 Ford "Early Late Model" #49, while Barry Clukey of Dexter enjoyed getting the feel of his resurrected 1940 Plymouth "Early Stock" #11 that raced at Unity in the days of dirt.

All the drivers managed to keep things together during the 8 lap heat race which was won by John Rice in his 1937 Pontiac "Early Modified" coupe; his first win with "Wicked Good" Racing.
The 15 lap feature saw the drivers all getting a better feel for the fast Wiscasset oval, but at the finish it was once again John Rice's Pontiac #24 (a Del Stinson original Beech Ridge car) across the line to be first to the checkered. That has to be a great way to begin the racing season.
