Colin Shields - Hermon

Year: 1947
Make: Ford
Engine: Flathead V8
Class: Bomber

As discovered in a gravel pit.
This Flathead powered Ford ran at
Exeter and Unity as #109 and as #13-13 in the later years at Unity .
It was one of a group of Hermon Fords originally all painted white with red numbers.

Discovered it was our own original car while loading

Originally owned by Bill Hartley, this 1947 Ford
coupe "bomber" (#109) was driven by Bernie Thayer,
who also owned the #66 Mopar coupe driven by Harold Wilcox.

then owned & driven by Earl McSorley (#13-13)
until the coupes disappeared from sight

& we now find Colin Shields turning the wheel
of his latest #A-1 race car                                            Colin's 47 Plymouth Sedan - A-1

Too bad - a true junk Ford flathead - just too many years catching the rain & snow

  Back Home Again

Colin began racing in 1949, and has continued racing for over 55 years.  He began racing his "new" Ford in June of 2006.  Colin pushed his newest to a second place at Speedway 95, just 4 hours after it first moved under its own power, following over 40 years at rest.
