Yes, this is the famed "Maine Moxie Car" to be:

Tom's treasured "Moxie Car" as discovered in 2004 !
Tom's 1937 Nash was built in the Moxie factory in 1884, Moxie's first year of operation, where it led Coke cars in the close contest for first place in the NASHCAR "ENAMEL" (Exclusive National Medical Elixer) Racing Series. These specialized cars, and their drivers, ran FAST and HIGH on the secret "High Octane" brews that both Moxie and Coke became famous for at that particular time. Original "Moxie" race cars are indeed rare in today's soft drink market, and the State of Maine is indeed favored by having one of these original race cars with which to promote it's OFFICIAL State soft drink !

Tom's research revealed that Charles Nash and David Buick worked together building cars, and that Charles Nash was at one time Chairman of Buick, only a few years prior to this car. Tom felt that their close relationship should be carried over to the construction of his race car. Tom is convinced that a vintage Buick straight eight powerplant should provide his racing car with plenty of "Moxie" on a race track. We now have one of these humongous 320 cu. in. engines (with factory two dueces) in our possession.

Extrication of THIS monster seemed quite like moving the Queen Mary !

and so we begin................

Hey Guys, how'd you like to hear a thundering roar, look in your rear view mirror,
and see something like THIS coming at you?

Note: Ron's stretch Taurus in background - We had to practice on SOMETHING first.....
Pretty "NASH-ty" looking race car, huh ?

Could this be an ancient treasure ? Pieces of eight, anyone !

Even WE forgot how loooooooong these old straight eights are !

Just resting & pondering fate........

Horizontal welding is still easier and prettier than vertical & overhead

Tom's "Moxie" keg '41 Lincoln brakes, Buick drum, & wide 5

Yup, that really is a pair of dueces on there !

Is it the Chevy door that makes this thing a modified ?
If it doesn't fit, try a hammer, a block of wood, a hand grinder, & a farm jack !

Stock door toward the crowd Modified door toward the infield
